Description:
This mod allows you to add "accessory products" to any of your products. If the customer decides they want one or more of the accessory products, the product and any of its accessory products can all be added to their basket simultaneously.

Any product in your store can have accessory products setup. The "parent" product and any "accessory" products are all normal products in your store inventory. Accessory products will be listed on the product information page for the parent product, and each accessory product will have a checkbox beside it. Any accessory products that are selected (i.e. the checkbox is ticked) will be added to the basket at the same time as the parent product is added to the basket.

So it helps with cross-selling your products, plus it will allow faster shopping for your customers!!

Features:

• This mod features full support for product options! If an accessory product has any product options, all of the different combinations will be merged into a single drop down selection list (this keeps things simple and neat on the master product page).
• When setting up your product accessories you can choose whether each one should be selected by default (i.e. if the checkbox is ticked by default).

Notes:

• The master product and accessory product are treated as completely independent products within the basket - they are currently not treated as a package. The quantities of the parent product and accessory product can be updated individually without affecting the other.
• Since the accessory product is a normal product in your store, the stock level for any accessory products will be decreased as per usual when it is purchased. This is a big benefit over trying to achieve the same functionality with regular product options (which aren't real products at all).

OK, I've added in a bunch of accessories to my products. But I'm having a major problem in that the product accessories only have one option drop down and it's jumbling two or more options into the one window, almost impossible for a buyer to use. See the Point & shoot or DSLR housings.

On some, I would like to have a particular size only available...or just not even show the product options under the accessories. That actually would be a quick fix.

Ideally I'd like each accessory to have the two or so options show up in separate drop downs just like on the product. I know you liked the neatness of one drop down, but I think it's going to confuse things.

Not sure where to go with this. I can eliminate some of the accessories that have two or more options for now, I guess. But really that sort of defeats the purpose.

Any ideas? I'm open to buying other mods or your services to fix this issue. I'm just very close to launching the site and want to get it going. Need some help asap.

Estelle, I'm interested in this, but I need fixed options as well-e.g. Item 1 is only compatible with Item 2 in size 4.

@Roxy - no, the mod does not allow this. The only way to have a restriction like this would be to have separate products for the different sizes, instead of using product options for the different sizes.

1. We currently have your related products mod from a while ago. Is this an update to the previous one or a whole new mod?
2. Is it possible for you to change the look of the product accessories to look along the lines of the url that I have pm'd you.
3. Can the customer specify the quantity of each product accessory before maing the purchase.

1. They are separate mods. "Related Products" offers an additional way to browse through your store, whereas "Product Accessories" allows you to cross-sell your products. In more detail...

"Related Products" allows you to display links to other similar products in your inventory (e.g. a t-shirt could have other similar t-shirts as related products). "Related Products" is useful to help your customers shop around and find what they are looking for. "Related Products" does not allow your customers to purchase multiple items at the same time. In comparison, "Product Accessories" allows you to have additional 'accessory' products within an existing product page, and the customer can purchase the main product and also any of the accessory products, simultaneously. Example uses: a printer could have various compatible printer inks as accessory products, or an item of clothing could have matching shoes or handbag as accessory products, or a mod could have a mod installation service as an accessory product

2. For the URL you PM'd me, this would require some PHP code changes as well as HTML skin changes.

3. No, the mod has been purposefully designed with only checkboxes to keep the product page as simple and user friendly as possible. Quantities can, of course, be updated on the checkout pages.
