Do you think a modification could be written that allows you to turn of some of the existing registration fields being required?

eg. we are developing a store offering digital downloads only so we don't require address, telephone number, etc... could this mod be modified or another one written to turn of these fields?

Hi Euan,

It's definitely possible. I would probably write a new mod for this. Please PM me the requirement.

Thanks,
-John

John,

Thanks for the reply.

Since I posted your reply I've managed to cobble together the changes required to make some fields non-required with help from code Estelle posted at cc.com and code Sir William posted on this forum.

As such my requirement is not essential (unless this coding doesn't work) but I still think there is a good market for a modification like this albeit I am not sure how similar it is to the Express Checkout.

Thanks,
Euan

Hi,

Does this mod allow for email verification? There was a free mod of this description some time ago but its disappeared into the ether and I'd like to validate an accounts email address before allowing access.

I suspect the answer is no but worth a try smile.gif

Many thanks.

Hi,

If you indicate that the new email field is required in the admin screen then it will validate whether or not this email field is entered in the registration screen.

Hope this answer your question. If not, please PM me for further clarification on this mod.

Thanks

The current code not only verifies that the e-mail address is present, it also verifies that the text entered is in the form of a valid address. It does not however actually verify that the address is real.....which is probably what you were inquiring about.

I cant say enough about this mod
Ive used it now on a couple of my clients sites and John has created a mod for adding additional registration fields that is easy to use, easy to configure and add the fields YOU want/need
for your store and all of it canbe done from within admin after the mod is installed.

if you are looking for a way to add fields to the registration form that you need to collect data from your customers to ease ordering this is the mod for you!
10 out of 10
well done John well done

Hi,
How do I change some required registration fields to non-required?

Is it any way?

Thank you.

Are you talking about fields created by this mod ?? if not this is not the correct forum to post !! you should post in the coding help forum.

Sorry, I have found this topic by search "required fields", because Euan wrote something about it.
