This mod will allow you to define unique stock levels and product codes for your product options. For example:

For product "T-Shirt X"
- There are 15 in stock in size "Small" colour "Red"
- There are 20 of stock in size "Medium" colour "Red"
- Temporarily out of stock in size "Small" colour "Black"
- Never available for sale in size "Medium" colour "Black"

Features:

• Stock levels are reduced following successful purchases
  
• Each product variation can also have a unique product code for inventory tracking.
  
• The stock level and product code is dynamically updated on the product information page when the customer selects chooses different product options from the drop down boxes
  
• Customers will not be permitted to add a product to their basket if it is out of stock in the size or colour (etc) that they have selected -- a javascript popup warning will be displayed indicating that the product is out of stock in the product options that they have chosen. (Unless your store is configured to allow purchase of products that are out of stock)
  
• Product options that are out of stock are removed from the list of drop down choices, where possible (** refer to product information page at our store for full information).

Hi

Just installed the product options mod, works really well. However I'm having trouble with the product options drop down list on the product display page. I'm trying to get them to display in order by product code, but they seem to be displaying randomly for some reason. Any ideas?

Hi Michael,

Product options are generally shown in the order they appear in the database, which has been an issue for many of us. Luckily, Estelle has created a mod for that as well. I've got her "Product Options Sort" mod on my site, and it works great.

thank you for this usefull mod (and all the other ones).

I have a question regarding items that are out of stock. I would like it to be impossible to choose a combination of options that I don't have in stock.
At the moment a customers have to choose size and color but I don't always have all sizes in combination with all colors.
It gives me a lot of extra work to have to write to customers and tell them that what they ordered is not available and then offer other options. It's not excactly inreasing the goodwill for the shop either.
So if there's a way to configure this (or another) mod to prevent customers to order items out of stock it would be truly great!

I am currently using the following CC4 mods involving product options:
Stock Levels for Product Options by Estelle
Force Selection of Product Options by Estelle
Quick Edit Product Options by Estelle

Hide Out Of Stock by Convict (this mod hides items out of stock but not option combinations out of stock)

One more thing; it would be useful to have a link from the "Selection of Product Options" page to "Stock Levels for Product Options" for a streamlined workflow.

This mod is designed to give you any or all of the following features, depending on how the mod is configured and how your store general settings are configured:

• track the stock levels of your different sizes/colours/etc
• give you unique product codes for different sizes/colours/etc
• prevent customers from purchasing items that are out of stock
• tell customers how many items are in stock of the different sizes/colours.

If you are using this mod but customers are still purchasing items that are out of stock...

• Make sure 'Allow out of stock purchases' in Admin -> General Settings is set to 'No'.
• Make sure within the Admin -> Edit Product page that the product has 'Use stock level' set to 'Yes'.
• If you are still finding that customers can purchase sizes/colours that have a stock level of zero, this most likely indicates an installation mistake somewhere, contact me if you need further assistance.

Not sure which page you mean when you say "Selection of Product Options", but if you mean the Quick Edit Options page then yes - this is something that I plan to add to a future version. In fact I also plan to change this mod (SLPO) so that it no longer uses a popup window, and so that there are links between the QEPO and SLPO pages. Any further suggestions please let me know!

With Estelles assistance this mod is now working excactly the way I wanted. Even better actually. If the customer try to add something that is out of stock a pop-up message will tell them that (or whatever you put there) and it will not be added to the cart.

This mod is a must have if you're selling something that has options. Saves tremendous amounts of time and frustration!

I had forgotten to update this mod when I updateded CC4, something you always have to keep in mind!


For the Quick Edit Options it's a yes, to first chose the options and then set the Stock Levels for these options would be the quickest way to go about.

Hi,
after having used this mod for some time I unfortunately have to say that it's not working properly.
The problem may or may not be that it's not compatible with one of the other mods I have.

It is not reducing stock levels when order status is automatically changed to "Processing", only if changed manually.

I contacted Estelle the 31 January about this and I'm still waiting for a reply.
I don't really like to bring criticism upon Estelle because in the past I have been very satisfied with all of her mods (including Extended Product Options,
Force Selection of Prod Opts,
Fully Flexible Contact Forms,
Gift Registry,
Google Analytics,
Hide Out Of Stock,
Pro Image Manager,
Quick Edit Product Options,
Sort Product Options,
Upload Multiple Images, and
Visual Product Options). Great mods all of them!

Her service has always been first class and therefore she has been my favorite modder since I started out with CC about a year ago.

I have also asked for help from CC customer service since I have paid for customer support.

This is the reply I got from Alistair Brookbanks at Devellion regarding this issue:

"I don't know how much I can help. I thought that the issue may be due to an old "manageStock" function in the classes/cart/order.php file. However I see on further looking that "Stock Levels for Product Options - http://cubecart.expandingbrain.com" modifications has been made to that function.

I am not familiar with this code and there is a high chance that that modification is the root of your problems. As I am sure you can understand we can't provide technical support for modified/3rd party code. "

This really reveals the weakness of CC; functions that should have been built into the original software are instead produced by 3rd party programmers, making it into a patchwork where the different "patches" are not always compatible with each other.
And then when it's time to upgrade CC, all the mods has to be installed all over again and if luck shines on you they will all work with the new CC versions. Otherwise not.
I don't mind paying for all this (mods, installations, support) as long as it works, but when it doesn't I loose money and i have to spend time on trying to find out what is wrong with something I know very little about.

The consequence is that I have now started looking for another solution and I will try out a managed shopping cart, paid by the month, with a smaller shop. If it works well, I will also move my main shop there, thus being able to spend my time selling rather than trying (and failing) to debug php code.

Devellion make it quite clear that they cannot provide you with support when you are using third party mods, and it is completely understandable why they need to take this stance.

As you already know from my emails I am helping you with the stock levels issue. If you're using my SLPO mod, and you're having problems with stock levels, then of course I am the person to speak to.

I completely understand your gripes about CubeCart and mods and how complex it is to keep everything working when using many mods, but it doesn't really have anything to do with my SLPO mod The best way to avoid hassles is to not go overboard with mods, and purchase from just the one store if you can help it to avoid integration problems. Also CubeCart 4.3.0 has fixed quite a few bugs that existed in previous versions, if you're experiencing bugs then I recommend upgrading to 4.3.0 and you can probably sit on that version for quite a while. If you're not experiencing any bugs then there's no need to upgrade.

I will be in touch again soon via email when I have resolved the problem with your store.
